Great job Trussville Tea Party!! It's crucial that we continue to take a stand and let our voices be heard. Professional and appropriate pressure on those that threaten our values and fiscal, responsible way of governing is necessary. Can we consider a public protest at ABC in Birmingham?

@Kaptah: I appreciate your participation in the discussion on our government and the direction of our country. Although your points are a bit scattered, I'll do my best to respond.

I'm not sure why more of the "non-white"community did not show up to participate in the Tea Party movement on April 15th. Frankly, I find it disappointing that more minorities would not want to participate in the interest of protecting the governed from the government. It is an issue that affects us all in a profound way, regardless of race or creed.

I would challenge you to produce any tiny scrap of evidence to support your insinuation that the Tea Party "only allows whites". The primary message of the event revolved around outrage over simple economic facts: deficits are reaching unprecedented levels; the stimulus policies are destroying rights and harming the economy further; elected officials are wasting enormous amounts of taxpayers' money and not even reading the bills that they are signing into law. Any and all were welcomed at every opportunity we had to invite participation. I can't imagine how matters of race even enter into this, unless one is looking for it through a racist lens.

Obama is wrong on economic policy. Bush was wrong on economic policy. John McCain would have definitely been wrong on economic policy. They are all BIG government/BIG spenders. While I don't walk lock step with any radio personality or pundit, I do walk lock step with conservative economic policy because it is the only philosophy that has been proven to work in history.

Any position that pits this debate in terms of "crying and gnashing of teeth because your party lost" lacks maturity and misses the greater point that the Constitution is being destroyed, and our entire way of life is being threatened. I find the destruction of the greatest civilization the world has ever seen to be something that cannot be "taken with a grain of salt". It's not about one political party over another. This is not a team sport. We don't cheer for one team and boo for the next when our children's futures are at stake.

The Tea Parties exist to try and raise public awareness of what is happening, to give comfort to those who are shocked by what our elected officials are doing, and to offer people a chance to have their voices heard. It is a grass-roots movement led by average, everyday Americans who have simply had enough. It's the perfect depiction of our Constitutional right to free speech being executed within the bounds of the law. How can any freedom loving American citizen oppose that?

I need to make another point of clarification: the June 15th action is not an event with speakers, food or entertainment. It is a call to all citizens to come forward and make a statement to a local elected official about representing the will of the people. It is a personal action that involves hand-delivering a message to Davis' office.

There is no schedule of events or start/end time (outside of the Congressman's office hours 9AM-5PM). There will not be people standing around with signs either.

The Independence Day Tea Party events will be more similar to the April 15th events than the June 15th action.

Crystal makes an excellent point of clarification. The plan is NOT to physically attach anything to the actual flag itself. The idea was to attach a note around the base of the flag. How you do this is definitely up to you, but the last thing we want or intend to do is disrespect the flag.

Thanks for making that point!

Please, please remember that NOTHING should be attached to the flag itself!! That is against the Flag Code (and therefore, illegal). It is also a point of debate whether anything should be attached to the flag staff. It would be better to err on the side of caution and place a note and the flag - together, but not attached - on the desk.
"The flag represents a living country and is itself considered a living thing." It should be treated with the utmost respect.

Why is it that all I see are White people in all the pictures with the only exception being a Black Speaker.

Where are all of the minorities? Or does your 'Tea Party' only allow whites?

I don't understand the crying and gnashing of teeth because your party lost. Case in point the email " An American Anthem by Justin Holcomb "
lots of Patriotic icons to say what? That ALL of the American people agree with Conservatives? Wake up and smell the coffee. You are a bunch of sore losers. Don't like the current administration? Impeach him. That's right, impeach the President. Do you really think that a McCain/Palin platform would have done anything different?

Until individuals like yourselves wake up and stop following in lock step behind radio personalities like Limbaugh, Hannity, Coulter, O'Reilly, and many others, you cease to think as individuals.

And no, I'm not a frothing at the mouth Liberal, nor am I a mentally deficient Conservative.

I lean to the middle, but abhor what Obama is doing in an attempt to pull this country out of it's economic nose dive. By the same token, I cannot see where your Tea Parties are accomplishing anything except to have a mass crying session in public.

If you want to make a " Change in the Right Direction ", then stop acting like so many children. Things will remain as they are until the next opportunity to vote in a new President and cabinet. Until then, take it with a grain of salt.
