Tony, we're certainly glad you came out to the event. To address your point about the Boston Tea Party as it relates to our event, it's important to realize that we weren't out to exercise civil disobedience or recreate the events of the Boston Tea Party. The use of the imagery and the context of the Boston Tea Party as an expression of the colonists frustration with a government that failed to honor the concerns of the governed is well within the scope and context of the Tax Day Tea Party movement.

I certainly empathize with your frustration, but the rally on April 15th wasn't intended to be the same kind of explosion as the historic events of 1793, but more of a spark. In planning an event like this, everyone projects their own expectations of what change will look like. Unfortunately this means that some, like yourself, might be left disappointed with the results. But as we tried to make clear in all of the media promotion leading up to April 15th, and at the event itself, this was only the beginning.

Our intent yesterday was to bring together American citizens who feel disaffected and diminished for their simple belief in common sense and give them an opportunity to see that they are not alone.

As one who is clearly familiar with history, I'm sure you will recognize that the events of December 16, 1773, were but a drop in the tide of the full expression of the colonists contention that Liberty was beyond the realm of governmental authority.

To that effect, Wednesday began a re-awakening of that same American spirit. It will be a while yet before the full voice of these people is heard. But it was a start, and we all pray that you, like the dozens of patriots in Boston Harbor, will one day soon have the opportunity to tell your children that you were a part of something historic.

I applaud you for your honesty and conviction, and I encourage you to join us as we take the next steps toward reclaiming our country.

Thank you for your comments - didn't mean to offend, but I am tired of whichever party seems to be ousted, using events such as these as their next platform for election or re-election. I am glad so many of you like Mr. Erwin. I do not know him personally - other than he was frightening all of our 50 and 60 year olds back during the Y2K fiasco. (Fill your tubs with water, ATM's won't work, store cash, etc.) and he was on 101.1FM stating how he was not accepting the pay-raise. Again - not imnpressed, but that's me.

I attended the event for 45 minutes (have a job nd pay taxes too) and wish I could have stayed longer to see if the event picked up or not. I wish it would have been scheduled for a 5:00PM to 7:00PM time frame for the working folks. Nice event, though neither myself nor my friends who met me, felt like it will have any affect on the current level, and irrational justification, of taxation US citizens are experiencing. It seemed like a local 4th of July event rather than a rally and call to action. (Again, was not there long enough to take in the full scale, but after the 4 start to a Lee Greenwood song - we felt it was time to go). MAybe we showed up expecting more. The name suggests greatness, and maybe we expected too much.

The actual Boston tea party, which chose action over words, by throwing illegally taxed tea into the harbor - and later, according to history: sparked the American Revolution. (Just threw that in there for the parents of some of those home-schooled children I saw attending, and may not be retaining that info while at the mall) Though I am sure the colonists of 1773 had no idea their actions would begin such a revolt at the time - I am quite sure they knew it was the start of something bigger than themselves. I did not leave feeling this was the beginning of something big, or even the start of a slow turning of the political ship.

Every little bit helps, and it was good to see people show up even if it was for free food. I appreciate the effort and I hope to look back on it years down the road and say. "I didn't know it then son, but it was just the start". (and I hope it is the start of people realizing Republicans and Democrats are the same - there is no "change" - the perpetual motion of the seesaw will continue and we will still get screwed, as long as the same politicians get in office term after term.)

God bless America.

Senator Erwin is a man whose values are exactly what we are looking for in all our politicians. He has integrity and is honorable no matter what his political party affiliation and we need more like him. I hope we see Hank Erwin running for an even higher office in Alabama! Thank you for coming today and speaking at the Trussville Tea Party.

Tony, We heard Senator Erwin speak at an event and we saw his passion and heard the truth in his voice. We had also seen where he had released a statement that he was turning down the raise that the Alabama Legislature had voted for themselves. He stated that a part time job did not deserve that amount of pay. We were so impressed with him that we asked him to speak. It was our hope that every speaker at today's event shared the same core values and the same love for their country. Although, many if not most politicians have let us down, we do need to applaud the ones who are trying to do the right thing. You know that they probably do not have a very welcoming work environment and it has to be a battle every day. Thanks for attending and it is our hope that everyone left with a renewed and rekindled spirit and love of country! May God bless America!

I really think it is a bad idea to have any politicians speaking at this event. We've heard their lies, listened to their spin, and seen their results. This is a revolt against the government - Republicans and Democrats - not a platform for them to speak.
